Camp Woodward News

Erik Burrow

Erik Burrow has been a huge part of camp for a number of years now and had more clips in last years Colony of Summer video then anyone.   He is always down to teach, skate, chill, and take photos at any time of the day.   I was lucky enough to have Erik as a staff member and be able to call on him anytime i wanted for some good photos.     Please enjoy the interview and some sweet skating shots.   I know i enjoyed taking them. -  Mike Bennett

Burrow-FishyState your name: Erik Foster Burrow

Where are you from? Toronto Ontario Canada!

How long have you been rollerblading? Probably since grade 6 maybe 7 all I know is the first day I saw a pair of M12's I went out and got a pair.

How old are you now? I'm 21

How long have you been working at Camp Woodward? This year will be my forth year coming to camp. Every year is different and every year is more fun.

Were you ever able to make it as a camper? No, I had always dreamed of coming here when I was little, luckily I still had a outdoor park that offered some similar elements of Woodward to keep that dream alive untill I was 18.

Being a staff member over the years has helped me in so many different ways.  What would you say you have taken away from the Woodward experience?
The most important thing would be friends, not even good friends but lifers because of how much time you get to spend skating and hanging out in such a beautiful place.
Secondly I've learned to skate everything, or at least a lot of different obstacles. Woodward doesn't keep you confined to one style of skating.  You can experience everything the sport has to offer and that is something that I have always loved about this place.

EricBurrow-TopAcidSince Woodward has so many options for skating obstacles .. What would you say your top three things are to skate here? Well any camper who knows me probably has seen me hanging out at Woodward Ave with a lemonade. I like to just get the feel for skating there. Second would be the Cloud Nine Spine because of all the great sessions I've had there, and finally the concrete barriers in the Skate Plaza at the top of the hill definitely a fun spot.

Speaking of campers... I have seen a lot of campers that have come through camp and turned into really amazing and inspiring professional riders such as .. Jeff Stockwell, Connor Obrien, Adam Killgore.. Who would you say are some really good up and comers to look out for in the years to come? Before Blake Kelly was staff here at Camp he was a camper and he definately will be amazing he is all about pushing skating to its limits.  Wake Shepman has been a camper here for along time and still will be most likely for at least a few years. He takes skating so seriously and takes the time to realize the importance of being well rounded.  Finally Mikey Pelso will be the best videographer ever and Andrew Nemo will take the best pictures ever.

EricBurrow-Makio21 is a crucial age where a lot of people have to make life altering choices... What are the plans for Eric Burrow in the up and coming years? Well right now I'm in University and should be finishing my undergraduate in Philosphy and Communications at the end of this year.
Thats when things will be crucial.  I'd like to save up and travel, skate and see the world in new ways or for alittle but then will most likely keep getting educated because it's only gonna help me later on.   I will still skate all the time.

Does this mean that we will be able to have your presence at Camp Woodward for a few summers to come? Hopefully I'd like to keep coming back for a few weeks every summer its pretty awesome.

I am sure the campers will be happy to hear that! Thanks for taking the time to sit down with me. Is there any shout outs, thank you's, sponsors, etc... you would like to speak of?
I'd really like to thank you for the interview and taking the time to help me find unique and challenging obstacles to skate whenever where ever. Of coarse Stu Campbell for taking me under his wing and showing and teaching me the best parts about skating as well as being the main reason I became an employee at camp
Also my best friend Aaron Mcinnis and everyone from toronto. Cameron Card, Ace Keiffer, Dustin Watson, Bernty, and all the older guys who helped showed me the ways Ross,Jay,Phil, Nicol.

As far of sponsors I don't have any but I have a ton of woodward clothes! Also I support Canadian Rollerblading and Shop-Task - Blog-task.com and Rolltoronto.ca and frequently contribute to these blog as often as possible.
